Four gorilla trekking sectors
Bwindi’s gorilla trekking is organised around four principal sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. The right sector for your safari depends on your gorilla permit, accommodation, route and wider Uganda itinerary.
Buhoma
Located in the northern part of Bwindi, Buhoma is one of the park’s best-known trekking areas and an established base for exploring the forest.
Ruhija
On the eastern side of Bwindi, Ruhija combines gorilla trekking with beautiful highland forest scenery and excellent birding opportunities.
Rushaga
Rushaga in southern Bwindi is a popular base for gorilla trekking and can work especially well for itineraries connecting Uganda with Kisoro and Rwanda.
