Your safari guide will meet you in Kigali for a short briefing before beginning a meaningful city experience.

The day starts with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, an important historical site that honours the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and provides insight into Rwanda’s journey of remembrance, resilience and reconciliation.

Continue with a scenic road transfer to Musanze. The drive takes approximately 2.5–3 hours through Rwanda’s rolling hills and rural landscapes towards the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Arrive in Musanze in the late afternoon, check in and enjoy a relaxed evening before the next day’s primate adventure.

After breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for your golden monkey trekking briefing.

Venture into the bamboo forest in search of Rwanda’s endangered golden monkeys. Their playful behaviour and striking appearance make this a rewarding wildlife experience and an excellent opportunity for photography.

After the trek and lunch, begin the scenic cross-border journey into Uganda towards Rushaga, in the southern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Arrive in the evening and settle into your lodge before the main highlight of the journey.

Overnight: Rushaga Gorilla Heavens

This is the defining experience of the journey. After an early breakfast, proceed to the Rushaga Gorilla Trekking briefing point.

Your experienced guides will explain the trekking guidelines before assigning you to a gorilla family and leading you into the ancient forest.

The trek can take approximately 2–6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you find the family, you will have a magical opportunity to observe these remarkable animals in their natural environment.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and some time to rest before travelling to Lake Bunyonyi.

Surrounded by green hills and scattered islands, the lake provides a peaceful setting in which to slow down after the forest adventure.

Enjoy a relaxed morning beside the peaceful waters of Lake Bunyonyi, taking in the scenery before beginning the journey back to Kigali.

The road transfer includes the border crossing between Uganda and Rwanda and a scenic drive through the countryside of both countries.

Arrive in Kigali in the late afternoon and continue to your preferred drop-off point, marking the end of your journey.
